I See Life Through Rose’-Colored Glasses was published by St. Martin’s Press on July 10, 2018. My friend, Stephanie, reviewed it here: Stephanie’s Novel Fiction, and when I read her thoughts, I quickly realized I need a humorous and fun read like this one!
My Thoughts:
I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses by Lisa Scottoline
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 rose’-colored stars to I See Life Through Rose-Colored Glasses! 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 (*I know this is not rose’, but it was as close as I could get! 😊)
Short and sweet review of this one- I loved it!
I started I See Life late last night and almost finished it in one sitting. From the first story I was laughing out loud. It is that funny.
Lisa Scottoline is a well-known author, and she has joined efforts with her daughter, Francesca Serritella, to write a series of essays with a book published each summer, just in time to take on vacation. Let me tell you, it has been the perfect vacation read.
I am close with my mom, and I talk to her every day. Lisa and Francesca have the same tight relationship. My mom and I have our own silly banter, and so do Lisa and Francesca. They consider their pets their family; we do, too! All of that to say, I found the writing completely relatable. Besides the funny anecdotes, there are also heart-tugging stories.
I am more of a novel reader. I do not read many short stories, and I have not been drawn to collections of essays, but this book is in a league of its own. I See Life Through Rose-Colored Glasses is amusing, entertaining, heartwarming, and completely uplifting.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. I See Life Through Rose’-Colored Glasses is available now.

Synopsis:
In I See Life Through Rosé Colored-Glasses, the bestselling mother/daughter pair is back with another hilarious and heartfelt collection of essays about the possibilities and pitfalls of everyday life.
Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella’s delightful essays are sure to strike a chord with every woman. Their nine book series is among the best reviewed humor books published today, and has been compared to the late greats Erma Bombeck and Nora Ephron.
You are the fastest reader Jennifer! I wish I had your speed reading abilities!! Love your review, I don’t read many short stories either, unless you count picture books! 🙃

Thanks, Lana! This one is a shorter book and a quick read, but I am a sort of quick reader. I’m also on vacation and trying to catch up on reads because work will be really busy in August, and I have a ton of August and September books! Eek! 😬 ♥️

You’re welcome and thank you again! One of the very first stories from Francesca about their cell phone conversations was so relatable and hysterical I knew I was in for a treat! 💗

Another great review! I actually didn’t know Lisa Scottoline has a new book, so thank you for this. Happy reading!

Thanks, Rachel! Once I get caught up on books/reviews, I hope to slow down a little! This one is really different from her thrillers, but warmhearted and fun. Happy reading to you, too! I hope your busy week has been going smoothly!

No I have not read any short stories by these authors. I loved Erma Bombeck. I think I will enjoy this humorous book. 😻😍

I think they have wit in common with Bombeck! Enjoy, Virginia! 💗

Jennifer!! I want to read this book so badly! How’d you snag an ARC from St. Martin’s Press? I enjoyed your review. I’m more of a novel reader too, but I heard this book of essays is funny. It’s sweet the relationship you have with your own mom. 😊. I’ve been wanting to read a Scottoline book forever, but always get confused where to start. Thanks so much for the great review. 😊

Thanks, Laurie! 💕 This is very different from Scottoline’s other thriller books, but oh-so-good. When I read Stephanie’s review, it was either pub day or day before pub day, and I went over to Netgalley, and it was a read now and my lucky day! I hope you are able to read this one soon! It’s such a lovely read!

Yes, it would be great by the pool or on the beach! Easy to pick up and read an essay or two and put it down until later!

Great review Jennifer! The cover of this one kept trying to pull me in but like you I’m more of a novel reader and not really a fan of short stories so I held back but now I’m rethinking that choice.

Thanks, Carrie! It’s such a lovely reading for easily picking up and putting down (though it’s hard to read just one story! They are addictive!). Isn’t that cover pretty, though?! Thanks again for the tip about my comments because now I think most of the ones I have posted today have gone to spam. 😞 I have emailed Akismet to let them know.

You may want to do a post letting people know to look for you (if you haven’t already since I’m behind on blog hopping). You are working fine for me now that I approved the comment I found and that’s probably all they will tell you anyway since it seems to happen to all of us at one point or another. 😦

I tweeted a couple people yesterday when I noticed it, and after you you brought it to my attention, and sure enough I was in spam. Thank you again because I was posting away yesterday morning to no avail. 😂

Oooh I’m loving the new emoji rating system! They really need to make more wordpress-compatible emojis. 😀 And I haven’t read an essay collection since the first year of uni, and I’ve never really been a fan of them, but these sound so charming!!

Thanks, Kathy! I was told that emojis are unprofessional in reviews, but I find them so much fun! I think it’s about the same for me and essays, too, until this one. It’s almost like little anecdotal stories your friend is telling you, rather than essays. Definitely charming- a great word for them! 💕

I’ve also been told gifs and emojis are no-nos when it comes to “professionalism”. But screw that! If you’re having fun and getting your thoughts across, I say use whatever you want. 😀
