Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a meme hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings to spotlight upcoming releases we are excited about that we have yet to read.
The book I’m waiting on this week is…
Confession: I have a habit of saving books for later that I really, really, really want to read now. Delayed gratification. I have learned there are others who do this, so I am not alone, thank goodness. I added Rust & Stardust to my shelf not long after it was listed on Netgalley because T. Greenwood is an auto-read author for me. Every book of hers I have read has been outstanding, and I am especially drawn to this one because it is inspired by true events. So while I have read many reviews come in from my friends, all positive I might add, I have waited and waited…And here I am, about to jump in, and I absolutely cannot wait! 📣 I will be reading Rust & Stardust soon! 📣
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Camden, NJ, 1948.
When 11 year-old Sally Horner steals a notebook from the local Woolworth’s, she has no way of knowing that 52 year-old Frank LaSalle, fresh out of prison, is watching her, preparing to make his move. Accosting her outside the store, Frank convinces Sally that he’s an FBI agent who can have her arrested in a minute—unless she does as he says.
This chilling novel traces the next two harrowing years as Frank mentally and physically assaults Sally while the two of them travel westward from Camden to San Jose, forever altering not only her life, but the lives of her family, friends, and those she meets along the way.
Have you read Rust & Stardust, or is it on your shelf? Do you delay gratification with your reads occasionally? (Feel free to validate me! 😉 ) Please share your link to Can’t Wait/Waiting on Wednesdays/WWW, so I can check yours out! Happy Reading! ~ Jennifer THR
I am excited about this book alsoooooo. ♥♥♥📖

I haven’t read anything from this author yet but this one is definitely interesting. I think Sally Horner’s kidnapping was kind of an inspiration for Nabokov’s “Lolita”. Definitely adding this to my TBR. Great pick, Jenn! 😀

Thanks, Rachel! My first pick! Yes, that’s definitely true about Lolita and Sally Horner. This author writes great suspense novels. They are emotionally resonant with great characters!

I’ve got this one on my list as well. And have had it there for a while. I’ve only read one other book by the author, but I think all the rest might reside on my shelves. Ha!

I’m still holding this one myself. LOL I actually have a fine line between gimme now and I know this is going to be good so I’ll save it for one of those times I feel stuck in meh territory.

Yay, I’m in good company then! I also can jump into one right away, too, if the mood strikes. I hope this is a great read for us!

I hope so too, I’ve been seeing good reviews for months so I don’t want to be that oddball that doesn’t get it. LOL

Not sure this one appeals but no doubt your review will change my mind! I don’t deliberately leave books aside, but sometimes they just get lost under the piles of new stuff – I’ve been meaning to read Sea of Poppies, for instance, since 2014! I’m sure I’ll get to it soon… 😉

There is an aspect that may appeal to you. 😊 The true story of Sally Horner inspired Nabokov’s Lolita. Now I have to see if I have Sea of Poppies here!

This one is going to go on my TBR! I am like you, I know there is a good book but I will hold on to it for a bit knowing it is there for a slump! Thank you for stopping by yesterday, I was busy doing payday stuff so this is the first time I could stop over!
