Happy Thursday, Bibliophiles! 😊 Today I have a review of J.T. Ellison’s newest psychological thriller/domestic suspense, Tear Me Apart, publishing on August 28, 2018, by Harlequin MIRA. What a crafty thrill ride!
My Thoughts:
Mindy Wright skis competitively, and she is on the verge of a breakout when she suffers a horrific crash. She sustains not only life-changing, but also life-threatening, injuries. Shockingly, her doctors find she has leukemia while she is undergoing surgery.
When a stem cell transplant is what she needs to survive, her parents receive routine screening. Neither is a match…and neither is biologically related to Mindy!
Time is of the essence to save Mindy’s life, but in order to find a match, all the years of lies will have to be unfurled one at a time. Which parent knows the truth? And which one will take it too far to protect Mindy and the harbored secrets?
Once Mindy is diagnosed with leukemia Tear Me Apart was off to the races with all the twists and turns. I did not find the twists overly shocking, but just enough to keep the tension mounting, layer upon added layer. When the pacing was on in this longer than average book, it was ON, and that made the time “commitment” more than worth it.
Tear Me Apart encompasses family drama laden with secrets, while also addressing topics of mental illness, missing children, and competitive skiing. How they gel together is a captivating roller coaster ride of a read.
Thank you to MIRA/Harlequin for the review copy. All opinions are my own.
Synopsis:
The follow-up to her critically acclaimed Lie to Me, J.T. Ellison’s Tear Me Apart is the powerful story of a mother willing to do anything to protect her daughter even as their carefully constructed world unravels around them.
One moment will change their lives forever…
Competitive skier Mindy Wright is a superstar in the making until a spectacular downhill crash threatens not just her racing career but her life. During surgery, doctors discover she’s suffering from a severe form of leukemia, and a stem cell transplant is her only hope. But when her parents are tested, a frightening truth emerges. Mindy is not their daughter.
Who knows the answers?
The race to save Mindy’s life means unraveling years of lies. Was she accidentally switched at birth or is there something more sinister at play? The search for the truth will tear a family apart…and someone is going to deadly extremes to protect the family’s deepest secrets.
With vivid movement through time, Tear Me Apart examines the impact layer after layer of lies and betrayal has on two families, the secrets they guard, and the desperate fight to hide the darkness within.
Have you read Tear Me Apart, or do you plan to? Have you read any of J.T. Ellison’s other books? Happy Reading! ~ Jennifer THR

I hope you enjoy her. She has a couple of different series, although they are ultimately linked to one another. She’s an author I purchase without even having to check the synopsis first! 🙂
