Shelfie by Shelfie is a fun book tag created by Beth at Bibliobeth. The idea behind the tag is to share a picture of any shelf of books you would like and answer ten questions about those particular books. Check out a recent Shelfie by Shelfie! from Beth!
We are focused only on the top shelf in this picture today, but I know you are browsing through that second shelf, too. 👀 😊
And here are the questions!:
1.) Is there any reason for this shelf being organised the way it is or is it purely random?
There is some method to the madness here. The ones stacked on top of the other books, from Leave Me by Gayle Forman on up, are all signed books from our local book festival! I have a Sarah J. Maas signed book! And Another Brooklyn! Some of the books are grouped by author, like “some,” but not all, of my Mary Alice Monroe books are together on the left side, and some of my Patti Callahan Henry books are together on the other side. Hey, I have the newest Patti Callahan book to review next month. It’s about C.S. Lewis’ wife!
2.) Tell us a story about one of the books on this shelf that is special to you i.e. how you got it/ a memory associated with it etc.
It would have to be the experience of reading The Summer Wind by Mary Alice Monroe. Her books are easy-to-read, straight forward, with heartwarming storylines and great characters, usually set in the lowcountry of South Carolina near the coast, and the best part: she includes some type of conservation of sea life in her storylines (due to her past work in the field). I believe The Summer Wind involved dolphins, and it was one of the first books I read by her. I love all sea animals, but especially dolphins! There is something about the experience of reading the story that stands out in my memory.
3.) Which book from this shelf would you ditch if you were forced to and why?
I don’t really want to ditch any (book hoarder, remember?!), but I can’t recall what Under Your Skin is about, but I also haven’t read it yet, so that does it. I have to keep it. 😉
4.) Which book from this shelf would you save in an emergency and why?
Probably the signed Jacqueline Woodson, Another Brooklyn. This author has so much heart, and her writing is exquisite. The stories stick with me long after I’ve read them, so I would want to keep that with me always.
5.) Which book has been on this shelf for the longest time?
The ones on the main part of the shelf have all been there about the same amount of time from three or four years ago when I bought the shelf.
6.) Which book is the newest addition to this shelf?
The autographed books are newer, maybe from two years ago?
7.) Which book from this shelf are you most excited to read (or re-read if this is a favourites shelf?)
I really want to read Homegoing asap! It’s been languishing on this shelf for far too long, and I have a feeling I will love it because so many of my friends have, and I love reading about culture.
8.) If there is an object on this shelf apart from books, tell us the story behind it.
There is a Chick Fil A cow holding a banner from a Peach Bowl I attended for my beloved alma mater, the University of North Carolina. For my friends overseas, it’s a football (different from soccer) championship game. I’m not sure who stuck that there, but there is Tar Heel/Carolina stuff all over our house. 😊 We won the game, I spent part of New Year’s Eve at a football game in Atlanta, and it’s a wonderful memory!
9.) What does this shelf tell us about you as a reader?
Once again, I own too many unread books, and I’m an eclectic reader. Women’s fiction, historical fiction, general fiction, psychological suspense/thriller, and fantasy are all on the shelf together.
10.) Choose other bloggers to tag or choose a free question you make up yourself.
I won’t tag anyone else, but I’d love to see your shelfies if you want to do the tag, too! Beth’s tag is so fun, and she is one of the most supportive bloggers around.
Awesome shelf and loved your little memory keepsake! 🤩💕

Thank you, my favorite M! 💗 I honestly can’t believe that little thing hasn’t gotten lost in all the moves, but there it is! It’s practically vintage now. 😂 Happy Saturday! ♥️ xoxoxo

Love your shelf Jennifer. 😍 I notice you have a few Lisa Gardner books. I’ve recently become interested in reading one of her books. Have you read any? Do you like her?
I’d like to try Mary Kaye Andrews too.

I meant Mary Alice Monroe, although I’d like to try Mary Kaye Andrews too.

😂 I just gave you a long Mary Kay Andrews answer below, so I’m glad you want to try her too! That is funny about their names being so close together, and I don’t know if I’d noticed before! Mary Alice Monroe isn’t as quirky and zany as Mary Kay Andrews can be, but she is a reliable author and I think you’d like the settings (and MKA actually has some coastal settings too). Thanks for your comments, Laurie! I hope you are having a great Saturday! ♥️

I’m actually glad you told me so much about Andrews. I’ve wanted to read one of her books more-so than Monroe. 😂
Thanks Jennifer. I’m so glad I e-met you. ☺️

Thank you, Laurie! I’m so bad. I have not read any Lisa Gardner books. I always have the best of intentions, but I do hope to read one soon. I’ve read great things about her books! Hopefully I can read and review one so I can tell you about it. ♥️ I have all of Mary Kay Andrews’ books! Yes, you definitely need to try her books! So much heart and so much fun! The most recent one, The High Tide Club, was released earlier this summer. I think I reviewed it here on the blog as one of my first reviews! It has a mystery component to the story I think you’d like. It was a new venture for her, and a little different from her other books. 💗

I was watching a YouTube video of Lisa Gardner being interviewed and I immediately wanted to read one of her books. I’m getting buried in books!! 😩
I’ve heard many good things about Andrews. I have one of her books. Another one to try to read. 🤦🏽♀️

Fun idea for a post, Jennifer.
I donated most of my books a couple of years ago. (I thought I was finally going to get to move, but at my own expense… so I let the books go. Now I regret it… especially since I didn’t get to move after all.)
Happy weekend hugs.

Thank you, Teagan! Beth gets all the credit for the meme, and it’s such a fun post to do and share. Aw, I’m sad about your books. I really need to go through mine and do a mass donation. I hope you have a happy weekend too! Xo

Omg! I know we are only supposed to be looking at the top shelf but I saw The Glass Kitchen on the second shelf! Holy cow that book!!! I loved it so much! Have you read it? Okay now I’m going back to look at you top shelf! Lol happy Saturday!😊💖

I knew people would look at the second shelf. I would too! 😂 Sus, I am so interested in that book, I have at least two copies. I am the worst for buying duplicates! I think I may have put one in my donation box. I haven’t read it yet, but I need to. I’m going to put it on my “list.” ♥️ So happy to know you loved it! I hope you have a great Saturday, too, Sus! The heat broke for a day, and it’s cloudy here! Yay! 💗 xoxo

It’s raining and blowing a hooligan here today, which means I’m confined to barracks with the dogs. Nevertheless, I’m catching up with my reading, so it’s no bad thing. Hope your Saturday is going well, Jennifer. 😊

Another phrase from you to love, Paula- blowing a hooligan! I’m glad you have some time to catch up on reading with your pups! It’s cloudy here and may storm later, a nice break from the heat! I think it’s going to be a lovely day! Enjoy yours, Paula!

Ohhh you should see my current shelf, Jennifer. Some section is organized by colour, others by height and others by genre….so I empathize with your madness! And I love the story behind that cow!!
I’ll definitely be adding this to my tag pile. 😀

I think you have more organization than me, Kathy! At least you are trying to form groups! I would love to see your shelf if you do decide to do the tag! Thank you for stopping to see me! Always happy to see you, Kathy! 💗 (oh, and did you see the fantasy book on the shelf! 😊)

Always happy to visit!! ❤ And maybe I should come up with a new organizational system for the tag…the shelves are due for a rearranging! And you BET I saw the fantasy book. 😉
