Shelfie by Shelfie is a fun book tag created by Beth at Bibliobeth. The idea behind the tag is to share a picture of any shelf of books you would like and answer ten questions about those particular books. Check out Beth’s recent Shelfie by Shelfie!
For this shelfie, we are just looking at the bottom shelf. If you are interested in knowing more about the elusive top shelf read about it here in my first Shelfie!
And here are the questions!:
1.) Is there any reason for this shelf being organised the way it is or is it purely random?
I think it’s pretty random. They are almost all unread, and if you are following my Shelfie posts, I’m embarrassed that is becoming a pattern. 😳 😊
2.) Tell us a story about one of the books on this shelf that is special to you i.e. how you got it/ a memory associated with it etc.
I have a few signed books on this shelf and probably the most endearing one is The Art of Racing in the Rain. It is a heartbreakingly beautiful story, and often times, I can’t read books like this one because, even though I adore emotional reads, the ones involving animals are often too much for me. This one managed to break my heart and give me hope at the same time, so that’s saying something. ♥️
3.) Which book from this shelf would you ditch if you were forced to and why?
Probably Rich and Pretty! The title puts me off and makes me not want to read it, but I bought it…and, therefore, I need to read it!
4.) Which book from this shelf would you save in an emergency and why?
Silly answer this week. Probably the signed Sex and the City because that might be a collector’s item and worth something?! 😂 If not that one, then The Art of Racing in the Rain. I usually want to save all of my precious books, but I could survive without a few on this shelf.
5.) Which book has been on this shelf for the longest time?
All but one have been on the shelf since I bought it.
6.) Which book is the newest addition to this shelf?
The Leopard at the Door is the newest addition. This book was a mixed bag. Beautiful writing, so much potential, but a couple things that happened didn’t sit well with me (one involving animals). Overall, I still gave it four stars, and I would read another book by the author.
7.) Which book from this shelf are you most excited to read (or re-read if this is a favourites shelf?
Probably Circling the Sun by Paula McClain. I read her recent book, Love and Ruin (Review on Goodreads), and absolutely loved her style of storytelling. I also saw that it’s on sale on Amazon when I linked my review! 👀
8.) If there is an object on this shelf apart from books, tell us the story behind it.
No objects this time around.
9.) What does this shelf tell us about you as a reader?
The same old, same old with me- loads of unread books and plenty of genre variety. This shelf has YA, SciFi (a rare sighting), nonfiction, historical fiction, psychological suspense/thrillers, contemporary fiction, literary fiction, and a fluffier read. I need some of my friend, Paula’s, organizational skills.
10.) Choose other bloggers to tag or choose a free question you make up yourself.
Random musing: I have several tall shelves in the house like this, and even though my organization is sometimes haphazard, I try to group titles from the same author together, and have some other organizational tactics that may not be apparent to you as of yet. 😂 My visual memory for where I place the books is pretty good, so I can usually find a book I’m looking for – if it’s on the shelf, and not the floor….or the stairs (confession was in a previous Shelfie). Turns out, the shelves are my organization!
I won’t tag anyone, but Shelfie by Shelfie is so much fun to do, and Beth is one of the most supportive bloggers around, so please check out her page Bibliobeth , and also my friend, Paula’s, First Shelfie because she has mad book organizational skills!
Happy Saturday, everyone, and happy reading! Jennifer THR

You’re welcome, Paula! I am guessing my word choice of “mad” didn’t translate well? 😂 It was the slang use of “mad,” as in inventive, and it’s a good thing! 😂 I didn’t mean “mad” in the “cuckoo” way, I promise. 😊 I am so happy you enjoyed my all-over-the-place shelfie! Hope your Saturday has been grand!

I think we need a picture of the books on the stairs. It might make me feel better about the fact that I reckon only half my books actually fit on my shelves…

Ok, you got me! I just took one! It will be my next Shelfie post. Just two stairs, though. 😉

Once again a beautiful, lovely Shelfie Jen, thank you so much 😊 I really hear what you’re saying about animal books. I’m a very emotional person when it comes to animals (when authors kill off dogs in their books I cry!) and I’ve heard great things about The Art Of Racing In The Rain. But would it be too much for me I wonder? 🤔

Thank you, Beth! ♥️ I don’t know…I am grateful I read TAORITR (lol that was fun to type!), but… 🤔 I still think I’d recommend it, with caution, because it’s too good to miss. 💗

At least I know I can message you about it Jen if I read it and sob like a baby! 😭😨😘

Oooh you have a signed copy of the Sex in the City? DEFINITELY keep that one! 😂 And I’m not a fan of books that have animal pain, either, but The Art of Racing in the Rain sounds so, so lovely. Also, I feel like I haven’t read enough books with animal PoVs, so I’ll be scribbling it onto my TBR. 😀
Another awesome shelfie, Jennifer! I think this might be one of my favourite tags right now–I’ll definitely join you guys sometime in the next two weeks! 😀

Thanks for the encouragement, Kathy! ♥️ I am so excited we will get to see one of your Shelfies! A side benefit I wasn’t aware of before doing it is now I reacquainting myself with just what is actually on shelves. That’s never a bad thing! 😂 Happy Monday!
