Shelfie by Shelfie is a fun book tag created by Beth at Bibliobeth. The idea behind the tag is to share a picture of any shelf of books you would like and answer ten questions about those particular books. Check out Beth’s recent Shelfie by Shelfie!
For this shelfie, we are just looking at these two steps. 😂 A few people have asked to see the books currently stacked on my stairs because all my shelves are full, and there is nowhere else to put another bookshelf in this house!
And here are the questions!:
1.) Is there any reason for this shelf being organised the way it is or is it purely random?
I think most of these were bought around the same time…This is actually the dregs of the stair shelves. The piles get bigger as you go down the steps. They need some time to be photo-ready!
2.) Tell us a story about one of the books on this shelf that is special to you i.e. how you got it/ a memory associated with it etc.
A sweet friend on Goodreads, Leila, from the UK, recommended the Barbara Erskine books to me. I still need to read them. I had no idea they were such chunky books, and I cannot wait to dive in. I will always think of her when I see these books.
3.) Which book from this shelf would you ditch if you were forced to and why?
Oh no, I can’t this week! I ditched a couple last week, so this week, I’m safe. All the book babies are safe. Unread and safe. Languishing on the steps. Unread.
4.) Which book from this shelf would you save in an emergency and why?
I would save the Mary Kubica because it’s signed. She’s a favorite author of mine, and I reviewed her most recent book When the Lights Go Out this week. But you know me…I’ll try to save them all!
5.) Which book has been on this shelf for the longest time?
I think I’ve owned The House at the Edge of Night for the longest. It got mixed in with the others because I photographed it! 😉 It begged to be in a photo!
6.) Which book is the newest addition to this shelf?
Swimming Between Worlds is the most recent addition! I cannot wait to read it because it’s set in North Carolina!
7.) Which book from this shelf are you most excited to read (or re-read if this is a favourites shelf?
All.of.them. I’ve got some goodies here! But I’ll say Lonesome Dove. I want to sink in to that giant book…and by the way, I bought the Kindle copy, too, because I don’t know how I’d ever read that monster by holding it! Do you like to read giant books like that, or would you rather have them on Kindle?
8.) If there is an object on this shelf apart from books, tell us the story behind it.
No objects, but probably some dust and cat hair! 😂 🐱
9.) What does this shelf tell us about you as a reader?
🧐😂🤣 The obvious: I’m definitely out of shelves!
10.) Choose other bloggers to tag or choose a free question you make up yourself.
I’m wondering if any of you put books in nontraditional places when you run out of room? I can’t be alone, right?! 😂
I won’t tag anyone, but Shelfie by Shelfie is so much fun to do, and Beth is one of the most supportive bloggers around, so please check out her page Bibliobeth , and also my friend, Paula’s, First Shelfie because she has mad book organizational skills! I could learn a thing or two from her set-up!
Happy Saturday, everyone, and happy reading! Jennifer THR

It will be time to panic when you’re permanently marooned upstairs. Next time you venture up there you should perhaps take snacks and a flask, just in case! 🤣
Love your stair shelfie, Jennifer. Something tells me I would feel very much at home in your house. Many thanks once again for the mention. Hope you have a brill weekend! 🌺

So true, Paula! I better be prepared for that! 😂 I love the idea of the flask, too!
I think you’d feel at home here, too, and we could watch for the hummers and butterflies while we read on my sunporch! A sweet hummingbird came to the feeder just a few minutes ago.
You’re welcome, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend also! 🦋

I’m in love! With your stair shelfie and I think with you a little bit!! 😛
Honestly, thank you so, so much for this. I’m so intrigued by Lonesome Dove, I’ve heard great things but the size of it – WOW. I think I’ve got The House At The Edge Of Night as well but in a different cover – possibly UK edition? What’s the author? Hugs xxx

Thanks, Beth! The feeling is mutual! ♥️ 😘 The author is Catherine Banner. The cover is gorgeous: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27163154-the-house-at-the-edge-of-night?ac=1&from_search=true Have you read your copy yet? Another buddy read? 😂 ♥️ Big hugs back!

Haha! Yes! That’s the one! I’ll send you a pic of my cover via Instagram DM, it’s SO different! Definitely up for buddy reading that. So we’ve got Elmet, Homegoing and The House At The Edge Of Night so far. 😂😂😂

Thank you for keeping the buddy reads straight for us! 😂 ♥️ I love that UK cover! They did an amazing job with the artwork for both covers!

I love when you do these posts Jen! So……there are more shelves we haven’t seen yet?😊 I have Perfectly Undone to read too! Why haven’t you read With Merit yet???? Such a great book!😊💕Happy reading my friend!😊💕💖

Thanks, Sus! I am so happy you enjoy them! They are fun to do! So I’ve shown the top two shelves of three different tall bookshelves (with 6 shelves each), and I have … ahem…. 8 of those… along with tall ones that are slimmer….I think four of those…and other miscellaneous shelves and TBR carts. Are you overwhelmed? I’m feeling very overwhelmed! 😂 I “saved” Without Merit until All Your Perfects came out…and now I’ve read neither. It Ends With Us got me so good, I think I’ve been scared?! 😂 😞 ♥️ Happy reading to you, too! 💕 I am reading a really good one today that I need to finish this weekend, Daughter of a Daughter of a Queen from SMP!

I should have named names for who requested! 😂 It gets heavier as you go down the steps. I’ll keep going with these until I bore everyone! ❤

Hehe! Love the books on the stairs! I have a bookcase inside my wardrobe – does that count as non-traditional? Lonesome Dove is on my TBR too – the Kindle version. I had no idea it was so big!

Thanks for trying to help me feel better, FF! We’ll count your bookcase in your wardrobe! 😊 Isn’t Lonesome Dove a chunk of a read!?

“The piles get bigger as you go down the steps.” Now I want to a full panorama view of your stairs!! And I love that you have a reverse bookstairs going on on your *actual* stairs. 😀 And I have unread books languishing on a piano, on the floor, and on every flat surface in my room–so you’re definitely not alone! 😉

I’m glad I am not alone, and that it’s you with me, Kathy! ♥️ You are the first to catch that and ask for a panorama. I may die of embarrassment. 😂 Love the reverse book stairs too!

Oh yeah, trying to find space for books when you are out of room on the shelves is a constant problem. So, I’ve turned them into home “decor”. I have big books stacked by series on a dresser with a little something cute on top. This way, it looks like it’s meant to be decor and not “I’m completely out of room.” I also have a dresser in the guest room that the bottom 4 drawers are full of books. HAHA! Guests don’t usually need it but they can have only the top 2 drawers. lol.

Oh, I love this, Leslie! You’ve validated me AND given me ideas. Decor, it is! I’m going for it! 😂

Great!! I will totally start a trend. BOOK DECOR! When you can’t fit them on your shelves, make them look like they belong anywhere. Just add a decorative vase or candle on top of that pile. haha! :-P:-) Please, let me know what you end up doing decor wise! 🙂

I definitely will, but I bet it won’t look nearly as decorous (not sure I’m using that word correctly 😂) as yours! ♥️

Nice shelfie! 😀
I just got a new shelf and it’s half empty. It kinda bothers me, even tho my BF tells me in 6 month it will also overflow like the rest. I tend to agree with him. Hehe. 😀

Thanks, Norrie! I remember your beautiful shelf. You will fill it up in due time. That’s definitely the fun part!
