I’m a little late with my first edition of my favorite reads of the month, but better late than never! My September was off to a rocky, busy start, but I did not want to go any further into September without sharing these books in hopes that it makes picking my 2018 favorites an easier process.
I had a great reading month in August filled with several standout reads. Without further ado, here are my five personal favorite reads of August 2018, including review links:
Rust & Stardust ~ I loved this tender and sensitively-written story about the kidnapping of Sally Horner, the true story that inspired Nabokov to write Lolita. T. Greenwood is a favorite author, and I highly recommend Rust & Stardust.
Sold on a Monday was my most-anticipated read of summer written by another favorite author, and it did not disappoint! It is on my huggable book shelf, which is where I keep my favorite unforgettable, emotional reads.
Where the Crawdads Sing ~ I’ll never forget Kya’s atmospheric story in the salt marshes of eastern North Carolina. The buzz on this one is well-deserved!
Sadie is all about the enthralling and endearing character of … Sadie. I’ll never forget how she pulled on my heart, an emotionally rich and resonant story.
The Night Olivia Fell is an emotionally-charged and powerful domestic suspense read that crosses reading audiences and has wide appeal. If you are a fan of young adult, I think you’ll be pleased with Olivia’s voice, and if you aren’t a typical fan of YA, like me, you’ll easily notice plenty of depth and complexity because this is not classified as a YA read. This book gets my highest recommendation, and it’s been well-loved by every early reader to whom I’ve recommended it. In addition, it was a unanimous Book Bestie Approved read, and you can read more about that in my review.
The first thing I noticed in this post was Scythe in the book pile right on top- just finished that book and absolutely loved it. Sadie looks interesting- must check it out.
