Happy Sunday and welcome to my stop on the blog tour for the charming, What Happened to Us? Thank you to author Faith Hogan and Aria Fiction for the blog tour invitation.
My Thoughts:
Carrie Nolan has been with her boyfriend, Kevin, for ten years when he dumps her for another woman, the stunning Valentina.
Luckily, Carrie sees the silver lining right away; she has catered to Kevin for far too long and now it’s time for her to live her life the way she wants.
A series of bad things happen, and Carrie needs her family and friends now more than ever. Luckily Carrie has a cast of supportive friends, and guess what else? She has a blog!
Set during Christmas, What Happened to Us is a comforting, cozy read. It features themes of friendship, love, and family. I loved to loathe Kevin and Valentina, and I easily rooted for warm and likable Carrie throughout. Watching her evolve as a character was uplifting, as was the ending to this lovingly-crafted book. Faith Hogan has a new fan!
Thanks to Aria and the author for the invitation to participate on the blog tour, as well as for the complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own.
About the Book:
Carrie Nolan is devastated when she is dumped by Kevin Mulvey after more than a decade without even a backwards glance! On reflection, she has sacrificed her own long term happiness establishing their critically acclaimed Dublin restaurant and pandering to his excessive ego.
Meanwhile Kevin can’t believe his luck. Valentina, their new waitress is a stunner, the kind of girl that turns heads when she walks in a room and surprise, surprise she has chosen him! He is living the dream!
Carrie seeks solace from a circle of mismatched friends who need her as much as she needs them. Jane, who struggles to run the pub on the opposite side of the street, Luke, who has stopped drifting while his father settles in a nearby nursing home and Teddy, a dog who asks for nothing more than the chance to stay by Carrie’s side.
With Christmas just around the corner, all is not quite as it seems and a catastrophic sequence of events leads to the unthinkable…
How far do you need to fall before you learn the true value of family and friends? And is it ever too late to start again…

Happy Sunday, Jennifer. For some reason, I have never been quite a Christmas book reader. This one does sound good though.

Thanks, Marialyce. I hadn’t been much of one until recently where I’m trying a few out. This one is set at Christmas, but it isn’t an on overall “holiday” feel like some books might be. It’s subtle, and I loved the author’s style.

This sounds like a great read where I’ll be ranting and raving at that bonehead who dumped her without a backward glance the whole time lol. Adding this to my TBR list, which is getting crazy long.

Thank you for a great review – and no… I don’t tend to read seasonally. At all. In fact it was a bit of a shock to me to discover that a fair number of readers do:).

Thanks so much, Sarah. This is newer for me, too. I am trying it out this year! This book isn’t necessarily holiday per se. It just happens to be set around Christmas. 😊

Good luck – I’ve have thought I might get hold of a couple of seasonal offerings and have a go. A Christmas Carol might be reread, for instance. I always watch it at Christmas…
