TGIF, everyone! First Line Fridays is a fun way to share from books on your TBR.
Today my first line is from a book I’ll be reading soon with some blogger buddies:
Using one forefinger I write on the bathroom mirror, drawing through the steamy condensation left by the shower. This morning’s number 442.
442 days since the car accident that destroyed my family. The crash took Dee and Sophie from me. The numbers disintegrate as I write them. They melt into watery tears, then disappear.
My first book from Hank Phillippi Ryan, I’m super excited. She is a favorite author of my friend Tamara at Traveling with T. She has already read and reviewed this book…and loved it!
Synopsis from Goodreads:
An accused killer insists she’s innocent of a heinous murder.
A grieving journalist surfaces from the wreckage of her shattered life.
Their unlikely alliance leads to a dangerous cat and mouse game that will leave you breathless.
Who can you trust when you can’t trust yourself?
Trust Me is the chilling standalone novel of psychological suspense and manipulation that award-winning author and renowned investigative reporter Hank Phillippi Ryan was born to write.
Please share with me the first line(s) of the book you are currently reading! I would love to read it! Have you read Trust Me, or do you plan to? Happy Friday reading! ~ Jenni THR
It really pulled me in and makes me want to read it too. New author for me. Hope you all enjoy it. Will watch for your review, Jenn! Happy Friday! 💜🌹😘 xoxo

This is definitely a book I want to read right now! I Just finished the Tattooist of Auschwitz and The Hiding Place ( hopefully reviews will be posted soon…I am so busy now with boring academic work) and I am ready to run to the store for more books.
The line from the book is so intriguing….!

I’ve missed you, Ink! I’m sorry about the academic work keeping you busy, but it’ll be worth it, right?! I hope? I enjoyed Tattooist and will look for your review! I LOVED The Hiding Place. I read it over 15 years ago and remember the entire experience. Will also look forward to your thoughts on that. Happy weekend, my friend! Xo

Defo sounds good!
I don’t have my book with me, but i think the very first line was “In Zoo City it’s impolite to ask”. Or something along these lines 😀 I’m only in for about 5 chapters but it’s pretty good.

Sounds like a really good start to the book you are reading. I am starting The Book of M. Here’s the first line, “The end of Ory’s world began with a deer.” Have a terrific Friday!

Happy Friday!🍁
My first lines come from Things Left Unsaid by Courtney Walsh….
This is it, Lyndie. Don’t blow it. Lyndie St. James stood in the hallway of Judson Music Studios, willing herself to open the door. A door that, in the past few months , had come to mean so much, thanks to constant reminders that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!🍁🙃💕

I’ve never read anything by this author either – look forward to hearing what you think!
Here’s mine…
Richard Cadogan raised his revolver, took careful aim and pulled the trigger. The explosion rent the small garden and, like the widening circles which surrounded a pebble dropped into the water, created alarms and disturbances of diminishing intensity throughout the suburb of St John’s Wood.
Hmm… I don’t think that gives much of a picture of what the book’s actually like, tbh. It’s The Moving Toyshop by Edmund Crispin – a vintage crime novel with a lot of humour.

Thanks, FF! I’m hoping it’s a nail biter.
You are right – it doesn’t seem to fit starting out that way. I look forward to your thoughts, on the humor especially!
