TGIF, everyone! First Line Fridays is a fun way to share from books on your TBR.
Today my first line is from a book I am currently reading:
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
FBI Special Agent Atlee Pine stared up at the grim facade of the prison complex that housed some of the most dangerous human predators on earth.
She had come to see one of them tonight.
This will be the first series I read from Baldacci from the very beginning, and I’m really excited. Stay tuned because I’ll be offering a giveaway of this one when I post my review!
Synopsis from Goodreads:
#1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci introduces a remarkable new character: Atlee Pine, an FBI special agent assigned to the remote wilds of the western United States. Ever since her twin sister was abducted by a notorious serial killer at age five, Atlee has spent her life hunting down those who hurt others. And she’s the best at it. She could be one of the Bureau’s top criminal profilers, if she didn’t prefer catching criminals in the vast wilderness of the West to climbing the career ladder in the D.C. office. Her chosen mission is a lonesome one–but that suits her just fine.
Now, Atlee is called in to investigate the mutilated carcass of a mule found in the Grand Canyon–and hopefully, solve the disappearance of its rider. But this isn’t the only recent disappearance. In fact, it may be just the first clue, the key to unraveling a rash of other similar missing persons cases in the canyon. . .
Make sure to check out my friend, Mack’s, First Line Friday post. She’s sharing from one of our upcoming group reads!
Please share with me the first line(s) of the book you are currently reading! I would love to read it! Have you read Long Road to Mercy, or do you plan to? Happy Friday reading! ~ Jenni THR
Sounds good! I’ve only read one of his books, ages ago, and enjoyed it, so I don’t know why I’ve not read more. Maybe you’ll tempt me with this one!
Here’s mine:
It all began one day in April when I went round to change a library book. At least, that is the time that it seemed to me to begin, though I know you people trace things a lot farther back, and I’d like to say that I don’t believe in all that.
It’s yet another vintage crime novel, The Colour of Murder by Julian Symons, and it’s going well so far… 😀

I’ll definitely keep you posted, FF. That vintage crime sounds like good stuff. I’ll be watching for your thoughts!

I’ve read many of David Baldacci’s books, and am glad he’s starting a new series. I look forward to your review! I’m reading Daniel Silva’s newest book (I’ve read all of his) and the first line of “The Other Woman” is “The car was a Zil limousine, long and black, with pleated curtains in the rear windows.”

Thank you! I’ve always wanted to read a book by Daniel Silva! I’m happy to know you enjoy his work. do you have a recommendation for me on where to start? ♥️

I’d start with his first one that introduces the reader to Gabriel Allon and continue from there: The Kill Artist (Gabriel Allon #1) The English Assassin (Gabriel Allon #2) The Confessor (Gabriel Allon #3), etc.

Happy Friday!👏
My first lines come from The Patient One by Shelley Shepard Gray…….
“Thank you for coming. I’m so glad you could make it,” Mrs. Warner said as she clasped Katie Steury’s hand between her own. “Andy . . . well, Andy would have been pleased to see you here.”
Have a very relaxing weekend and happy reading!😊
