Happy Tuesday, all! Today I am super excited to share my review of another book I group read, Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose! It’s first in a new series and available today from Berkley Pub!
My Thoughts:
I had no idea Karen Rose has such an extensive backlist of well-loved works. Say You’re Sorry is part of her Romantic Suspense series, but it’s also the first in her new Sacramento series. At first glance, this book is a whopper, but it never felt like it! I’ll tell you why!
Gideon Reynolds is a special agent with a past. He was brought up in a cult, and once he escaped, he used routine to keep himself safe. His highly structured world is shaken up when Daisy Dawson arrives.
Daisy has to seek the help of the FBI when she’s attacked by a man in a mask. Who is assigned to her case? None other than Gideon.
The two find out that Daisy’s attack is not isolated when other women are being attacked, too. And Daisy may still be in danger with a possible serial killer looming.
Say You’re Sorry is gripping with a high-speed pace! Tons of action, it felt like a movie! The romance between Gideon and Daisy is steamy, but the suspense definitely takes the front seat. Smooth writing and a taut plot made reading this one the perfect experience! I loved it!
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Synopsis:
Introducing the first book in the new pulse-pounding Sacramento series from New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose.
FBI Special Agent Gideon Reynolds did not have a conventional upbringing. Raised in a cult in Northern California, his mother smuggled him out when he was thirteen, and he never saw her again. It is not a bit of history he is keen on sharing, but being guarded has not gotten him any closer to what he really wants: a family.
Daisy Dawson lived a sheltered childhood. Her father, a former military man, believed that the woman he loved and her daughter were being hunted, so he took extreme measures to keep his family safe. But despite his best efforts, Daisy is done being scared. New to Sacramento, she is ready to jump headfirst into life–until she is attacked one night.
Gideon is caught unawares by Daisy, who is unlike any victim he has ever met. But the attacker is far from finished, and tracking him will threaten to pull Gideon back to the world he fought so hard to leave…

Have you read Say You’re Sorry, or is it on your TBR? Happy Reading! ~ Jenni THR
ooh, love romantic suspense , and it’s a + when they sound like a movie and have police investigations. how’s the romance level?

It’s pretty steamy, Jina. Berit reads much more romance than I do (I’m not a regular reader of it), and she said it was equal parts romance and suspense.

This is one of my favorite series! I’ve the book ahead of it to read but it’s coming up next month. I’m thrilled you loved it, Jennifer! All of her books are massive so I switched to audio many books ago as she picks the best narrators and the storytelling is excellent in that medium. Can’t wait!

Thank you so much, Erica! It was a fun read! That is a gerbera daisy, but it looks a lot like a sunflower. I’m a flower geek, and I have some sunflowers in this pic: https://jennifertarheelreader.com/2019/02/05/the-lost-girls-of-paris-by-pam-jenoff-bookreview-tarheelreader-thrlostgirls-pamjenoff-harlequinbooks-tlcbooktours-thelostgirlsofparis-blogtour/ ♥️ 🌻

I’m with Jonetta. This is one of my favorite series ever in a favorite genre. I started with Cinncinnati 16 and went back and read all the ones before it, and then went right forward until now. They are all longish and all very well-written. I LOVE them. Great review.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a romantic thriller, but this definitely sounds like it would keep me hooked until the very end. The characters’ backstories seem quite interesting, so i’m curious to see how the author weaves them into the overall plot of the story.
