Welcome to my stop on the 100 Dives in a Lifetime blog tour sponsored by TLC Book Tours! Thanks to TLC for the invitation! I LOVE to travel, and when I was offered this book to review, I scooped up the chance. It blew me away!
About the Book:
Explore 100 breathtaking scuba diving sites around the world–from the cenotes of Mexico to the best wreck in Micronesia–through stunning National Geographic photography, expert tips, and cutting-edge travel advice.
Filled with more than 350 images from National Geographic, 100 Dives of a Lifetime provides the ultimate bucket list for ardent scuba divers and aspirational travelers alike. From diving with manta rays at night in Kona, Hawaii, and swimming with hammerheads of Cocos Island in Costa Rica to exploring caves in Belize’s Lighthouse Atoll and diving beneath the ice floes of Antarctica, this exquisite inspirational book is filled with beautiful imagery, marine life guides, trusted travel tips, and expert diving advice from world-famous National Geographic divers and explorers like Brian Skerry, Jessica Cramp, and David Doubilet. Organized by diving experience and certification level–from beginner open water and wreck dives to expert cold water and cave dives–each location offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the magic of our world’s oceans–from your armchair or with your scuba gear in tow.
My Thoughts:
As I mentioned above, I love to travel. I especially love to snorkel, and I want to learn how to scuba dive. I first snorkeled in Xel-Ha on the Riveria Maya in Mexico. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but once I did, it was hard to get me out of the water to do something else. The clear blue water of the Caribbean was made for snorkeling and diving.
Well, this book is more about scuba diving than snorkeling, but it’s not JUST for divers. The author mentions you can stay on land or on the boat visiting these stunning places and have just as much fun. The pictures inside are as glorious as you’d imagine from National Geographic. Rich colors, large, full page photos; this is truly the perfect coffee table book and conversational piece. Not only that, it made me feel wanderlust to visit all these places. In fact, I started a list already! It’s an absolutely gorgeous book! Talk about a bucket list for travel!
Overall, if you are looking for the perfect gift for a friend who has the travel bug, or one who likes to dive or snorkel, this book is a gem of a find!
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Lovely pic… Look at your kitty cat sitting so peacefully.

I got really interested in scuba diving stories after that creepy documentary, Ben’s Vortex. Beautiful but dangerous, but the photos they capture are just unreal! Sounds like a great book!

Thanks, Mack! I have not seen that documentary. The pictures in this book are so lovely and captivating.

This sounds fantastic! I’m not an enthusiastic traveller but I love to travel vicariously through books, and especially ones with great illustrations! Isn’t snorkelling a funny word, btw? I wonder why it’s called that… 😂

Thanks, FF! Me, too! We get to travel all the time with our books, don’t we? Also keeps our minds open, just like traveling does, and I love that! Snorkeling is sooooo funny! When you asked me that, I immediately thought it must be an onomatopoeia! 😂

This sounds like an absolutely gorgeous book. My daughter loves to travel and learned to dive a couple of years ago. She has had the opportunity to dive in Australia and off the coast somewhere in SE Africa, but I am not sure where. I think this would make a great birthday present for her. Thanks for sharing this one Jennifer.
