Hey, my dear friends! Today is my one year anniversary of blogging! I have so much to be thankful for; most especially for all of you! I’m sharing a little bit about how I got here (eek! 😬) and also giving back some of the love I’ve felt from you all over the last year with an International Giveaway! So please read all the way to the bottom to enter! Lots of photos inside, too! Kittens!
“And so stand stricken, so remembering him!” Edna St. Vincent Millay.
How did I get here? Why do I blog?
I’ve had the above quote drafted as a post for almost a year. Like many of us, I started blogging to keep me busy. My soulmate kitty of sixteen years, Bailey, was ill and getting sicker by the day. I started blogging on May 3, 2018, and Bailey passed away four days later. I had a post drafted about Bailey, and I could never bear to finish it.
I tell you all of that to say this blog got me through a rough time, and it’s gotten me through a few more since then. And it’s not just the blogging that gets me through. It’s the support of all of you. Not a day goes by where I don’t pinch myself thinking about my dear friends who chat with me daily, tease me about mountainous TBRs (or lack thereof, in some cases- you know who you are!), share my posts, the ones who stop by to like them, and the entire sense of community we have here. It’s an amazing thing, and I imagine it’s helping many people and not just me.
Personal Update: 😬
A quick update because I’ve sporadically told a few of you here or there, and I don’t know where else to put this because I don’t often blog about personal things! Bailey’s littermate, Coley, my cat of almost 17 years, passed away on Christmas Day, just seven months after Bailey. She was the sweetest, most talkative cat I’ve known, and I miss her like crazy, too. The holidays were tough for our family.
I went to the Humane Society at the end of December “just to look” and came home with two kittens and a hairless (from a flea allergy) adult male I was worried no one would adopt because of how he looked. At the suggestion of my vet, I had the cats’ DNA tested, and my handful of a hairless cat is a Bengal (the vet knew based on his personality and behavior, even if he was hairless). My kittens are Abyssinian/Maine Coon, and I’m so in love with all three of them. Like blogging and reading, they keep us busy and out of trouble! (While they constantly stay IN trouble! 😂). The kittens are Charles “Dickens” and “Harper” Lee, while their older brother is Hemingway. Literary kittens. Ok, that’s my personal update for the year. 😂 Thanks for reading! ♥️
Twitter Jail:
It figures the week of my anniversary I would land back in Twitter jail for the first time in a couple months. I had been so careful, and it took me two full days to notice this time. 😂 I’m going to cut back on the liking of shares and daily thanking because I think I do those things too fast, and I don’t really know how to slow that down. I will absolutely NOT be cutting back on the sharing of your blog posts because that is the most important thing, and I will do my best to thank maybe in a weekly post like some do? Also, I’m sorry I’m silent right now on Twitter, but some of you have shared that’s the quickest way to get out of jail, so hopefully it’s just for a couple more days! 🤞

I have a little giveaway as a thank you to all of you who follow my blog. Happy Reading, my friends! Thank you all! ~ Jennifer THR (Oh, and I realize this looks like a cat lady’s blogiversary post, and hey, I guess that’s what I’ve become! 😂)
Hemy’s fur is still growing back in. We don’t know just yet what his top coat pattern will be! It’s fun to watch it evolve!
Huge congratulations on your first blogoversary – you’ve had a stormingly good first year – here’s to many more:))

Jennifer, you know what an animal lover I am and I love to see your cats and I’m so sorry about Bailey and Coley. When pets live to be 16 and 17, they become such a huge part of our lives. And their loss is such a huge hole in our lives and hearts. But I’m so glad you found solace in your blog and that you opened your heart to Hemy, Dickens and Harper. Hemy is absolutely beautiful! And of course, Dickens and Harper are the cutest.
Happy Anniversary!

Thank you so much, Kris! This comment is so kind and so you. Many people say when an animal lives 16 or 17 years, they had a good life, but that’s not always comforting. What you said is, and I know you get it. ♥️ Thank you for all those kind words! Xoxoxo

I love the pictures of your cats. There’s nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady. It was my cat’s first birthday this week and he got presents, birthday cakes, a cake, and a balloon.

Happy Blogiversary, my dear friend! It’s been such a joy to meet you and become close to you and to discover all the things we have in common. I thought when I told you my 2nd blogiversary was coming up that it was on the 6th, but I just looked and it’s actually tomorrow on the 4th, so that’s funny ours are a day apart (guess I should reschedule my posting date, lol) . ❤ I love how you shared why you started blogging because I understand so well. My blog and this community have gotten me through a lot. You are just so wonderful, kind, and generous in spirit and friendship, and I look forward to many more years of friendship, books, and blogging with you my sweet friend! xoxo ❤ ❤

HAPPY BLOGGERVERSARY Jenn ❤ That means that in a few days, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you for a year – and here’s to many more!!
I’m sorry to hear of the hardships you’ve been through this past year, it sounds like it’s been really rough on the fur front 😦 But I’m so thrilled it’s looking up, and those pictures *melts*!! If you didn’t live so far away, and my cat didn’t go psycho around other cats, we should totally have a furbaby playdate 😛
I’m so glad I’ve met you, my friend!! Have a great weekend ❤

Aww, Bibi! I’m so happy every time I see a post from you pop up, my friend! Yes, in just a couple days it will be your anniversary! I know you’ve had a challenging year, too, and I hope blogging and the community helped too. A fur baby playdate would be fun, wouldn’t it? I’m so glad I know you, too! I hope you have a lovely weekend! 💕

yay for one year! Oh my goodness, what a year. I am so sorry about your loss. I get it, I do. I lost a couple of my fur babies in the past year to two, its so hard. It’s nice to use the blog as an escape. I do it also. I love the blogging community as a whole, I think we have some great people here in the book world, even if it feels like it’s getting smaller lately. I adore your blog. I adore your reviews, I think we have a similar taste. I also love those kitty pictures (: probably because I am a proud fur mama of 5 of my own.
My favorite book of 2019 so far is probably Lost Roses
Congrats on one year, it’s quite the milestone. Here is to many more!!

Wow I never would have guessed it was only a year with all the posts and followers and comments you have. Congrats! I hope you find blogging as fun and fulfilling as I do plus it’s great to read all the books! (I am deathly allergic to cats so I won’t be thinking about them even though I think they are cute. I am itching just thinking about them. But in person I can’t breathe)

Jennifer, I can’t believe you have only been blogging for a year. Happy Blogiversary! Your giveaway is extremely generous, thanks. I am so sorry about the loss of your two beautiful cats. It is so hard to lose a furbaby and I know how you feel. Your new kitties look like they are a lot of fun and maybe a bit impish. I would love to see a picture of your Hemingway when he gets his new coat. Beautiful post.

I love the joy you have for books, and I love how much of it comes across in your reviews, and I love love love the support you give to the blogging community. I mean, I just love YOU. PERIOD. 😀 Your posts and comments are like a bright spot of sunshine, and I’m looking forward to many many more years of gushing and sighing over TBRs. Aww, Kathy! I love you SO MUCH. The beloved cat losses weren’t the only struggles this year where blogging helped, but they are a safe thing for me to write about. I know so many of us have so much more on our plates than we share. ♥️ Once again, you have the most genuine things to say. Your heart is enormous. I’m not sure if you found me, or I found you, but I am grateful to know you and share book loves and friendship with you. You are a bright spot of sunshine for me! Thank you again. ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ xoxoxoxo
Ahh, Twitter jail! When you do anything too fast/too often, they flag you as a robot and make it so no one can get notifications of your shares, likes, RTs, etc. They basically silence you! I am finally out though and trying so hard to be slower. 😆 ♥️

Aw, i’m so sorry about kitty 😦
The kittens are adorable!
Love the one making friends with the tap. I had a kitty who loved drinking from there. My older cat, in spite of being 7 years old have not mastered this concept, but after my other kitty passed away, this one spent some time just sitting in the sink staring at the tap…

Aww, staring at the tap. 😞 I’m sorry you lost a kitty, too, Norrie. ♥️
This looney tune likes to play in water. She has been in a kiddie swimming pool, jumps in the sink daily and loves to get wet. We found out she is part Maine Coon, and they supposedly love water.
