20190517_160400.jpgToday I’m excited to bring you a review of The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren! Thank you to Gallery Books for my gifted copy. The Unhoneymooners is available now!

Before I get started, I have to mention, after reading My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren last year, I have been on pins and needles waiting to read this book! These authors are truly THAT good!

My Thoughts:

Poor Olive. She is the unlucky sister, kind of an Eeyore, so she’s still lovable. I don’t think anyone else thinks she is as unlucky as she herself does. Her twin sister, Ami, is the lucky, fortunate one. And Ami’s the lucky one getting married first in a fairytale wedding paid for with coupons and contest wins.

The book opens with the wedding, and Olive being forced to spend time with someone she despises whom she thinks despises her, too: Ethan, the brother of the groom and best man.

The wedding culminates in everyone getting sick from food poisoning, and Ami asks Olive, and the groom asks Ethan, to take the honeymoon or else it will be lost.

Did I mention the honeymoon is to Hawaii?

The snark and sarcasm between Olive and Ethan are in full swing when they reach Hawaii. They plan to avoid each other once there, but Olive tells a lie about the two of them being newlyweds, and the pair is forced to put on an act. Surprisingly, Olive begins not to mind!

Christina Lauren has/have done it again. They manage to write books I love reading and cannot put down. The laugh-out-loud moments were truly some of the best. I don’t want to go into anything else because you need to read this book- and all their books – to experience the fun and sheer talent of this fabulous writing duo. Please go read The Unhoneymooners, soak it all up, have some laughs, fall for Ethan and Olive as they fall for each other, and come back and tell me you loved it, too! Because I have a strong feeling you will!

I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Synopsis:

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of… lucky.
