20190503_181221.jpgToday I have a review of Mine by Courtney Cole.  Mine will  be published via Gallery Books on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. A big thank  you to Gallery for my gifted copy.

My Thoughts:

Tessa is a successful mom of three. She’s happily married and just returns home to find a hurricane right on her front doorstep. A literal and figurative storm.

You see, just as the storm is beginning to bear down on the coast of Florida where she lives, Tessa finds out her husband, Ethan, is cheating on her with a younger woman.

Tessa needs answers and calls this woman over to the house pretending to be Ethan… The woman, Lindsey, comes to the house, and they ride out the storm together, and you’ll just have to imagine what ensued between two women who want the same man.

Mine is compulsively readable and so hard to put down. It rages with authenticity, and my absolute favorite aspect was the complexity in the characters. No one was all good or all bad, and that was an important theme in the novel.  We are filled with shades of gray, and one small decision can lead any of us down a path of many faulty decisions that could ultimately destroy our lives or marriage.

Another thing I loved is even with an angsty, intense thriller, Courtney Cole leaves an imprint of her heart on the pages, especially with how the story wraps. Be prepared to have a chunk of time to sit with this one. In a blink, it’ll be over, and you will be left with much to think about. Courtney Cole, Mine was good stuff! Dramatic, bold, and intoxicatingly bad, but deliciously good all the same! I loved it!

I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Synopsis:

Tessa was prepared for the hurricane. Lindsey was the storm she didn’t see coming.

When Tessa Taylor unlocked her husband Ethan’s iPad to discover nude photos from a twenty-six-year-old bombshell named Lindsey, her seemingly perfect life came to a screeching halt.

With a hurricane barreling toward Florida and Ethan stuck on a business trip, Tessa finds herself imprisoned in her own home with a choice to make: Does she ride out the storm until she can confront Ethan in person, or does she take matters into her own hands?

Increasingly restless and desperate for revenge, Tessa resolves to act. And when she lures Lindsey over a few hours later, there’s no turning back.

What ensues is a battle of wills between two well-matched opponents, blinded by love for the same man but driven by demons of their own. Like storm-ravaged Florida, neither woman will be the same when the skies clear.
