Today I have a review of Love on Lexington Avenue by Lauren Layne, available from Gallery Books on September 17, 2019.
A big thank you to Gallery for my copy!
My Thoughts:
Love on Lexington Avenue is the exciting follow-up to Passion on Park Avenue, which I also recently read and enjoyed.
Claire Hayes is a young widow living in New York City. She is convinced there is no one for her in the city, and her late husband was one of the worst, even though it took her a long time to know it.
Claire wants to close the previous chapter of her life, so she decides to redesign her Upper East Side brownstone. Enter Scott Turner, her new contractor.
Scott is not a fan of people like Claire, and he lets it be known upfront. He’s just there to do the job. But as you can already imagine, there’s an undeniable spark.
The story behind the series is that Claire becomes friends with the mistresses of her late husband. Love on Lexington Avenue is Claire’s story.
First of all, I love Lauren Layne’s easy, breezy writing style. She hooked me to Claire’s story from the start. Claire and Scott couldn’t be more opposite, and that makes for some great tension.
Overall, Love on Lexington Avenue is a thoroughly entertaining, fun read, and I loved every bit of it!
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
About the Book:
From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne comes the second delightfully charming installment in the Central Park Pact series, following a young widow whose newfound cynicism about love is challenged by a sexy, rough-around-the-edges contractor.
There are no good men left in New York City. At least that’s Claire Hayes’s conviction after finding out her late husband was not the man she thought he was. Determined to rid her home of anything that reminds her of her cheating husband, Claire sets out to redesign her boring, beige Upper East Side brownstone and make it something all her own. But what starts out as a simple renovation becomes a lot more complicated when she meets her bad-tempered and rough-around-the-edges contractor Scott Turner.
Scott bluntly makes it known to Claire that he only took on her house for a change of pace from the corporate offices and swanky hotels he’s been building lately, and he doesn’t hesitate to add that he has no patience for a pampered, damaged princess with a penchant for pink. But when long workdays turn into even longer nights, their mutual wariness morphs into something more complicated—a grudging respect, and maybe even attraction…

I do enjoy slightly predictable stories like this sometimes! But also, I cannot imagine being friends with an ex’s former mistresses so I’m curious to see how that plays out in this story!
