Welcome to my stop on the The House by the Cypress Trees blog tour sponsored by Suzy Approved Book Tours! Thank you to Suzy for the invitation!
About the Book:
Julia Ramos, in Italy to find her birth mother, rescues a dog, is nearly run over by a handsome Brit, and gets evicted from her rental apartment. Not a perfect trip.
Daniel Stafford wants to visit his family in Tuscany—after his girlfriend dumps him for their Italian driver, he botches a work presentation in Rome, and an assertive American falls in front of his car.
When their two disastrous lives collide, they end up sleeping on the side of the road. Falling in love with Italy—and each other—is the least of their concerns.
My Thoughts:
I loved Julia from the start, when she rescued a dog. Julia is away from her home in Texas searching in Italy for her birth mother. She meets a reserved man named Daniel, and they become friends. And then more.
Elena Mikalsen’s writing took me right back to my trip to Italy. She captures the food, the wine, the people, and the lush landscape. Daniel and Julia fall in love with Italy just as they fall for each other.
My favorite thing about the story was its characters. Daniel and Julia were charming and complex. Their story offers hope and comfort. It’s a stunning love story, and the backdrop of Italy made for a great, refreshing escape.
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
