Happy Wednesday! Today I have a review of In Her Shadow, publishing on October 4, 2018 by Amazon Pub UK. Several of my friends highly recommend Mark Edwards, and I just had to find out why…
My Thoughts:
Wow, my first book from Mark Edwards is a solid winner!
A tale of two sisters. Isabel is young and successful, and one day, she is found dead after an accident. Years later, Jessica is still reeling from her sister’s death when her young daughter, Olivia, mentions secrets about Isabel’s past, things she shouldn’t know.
With that discovery, Jessica senses that there has to be something more to the story, and perhaps her sister has been murdered. She also has to reason to believe that she and her family are in danger. And just what does her daughter know? And how on earth does she know it?
I read In Her Shadow quickly, absorbing the tension and feeling anxious for Izzy, Jessica, and Olivia. I liked how Izzy is present within the story through flashbacks. There was breathing room in the writing for me to make my own theories, while that tension continued to ramp up and up. Red herrings and many possible culprits left my head spinning in the best possible way.
I’m cutting this review short so you can explore this treat of a read for yourself. I can easily see why this author has so many fans. In Her Shadow is a spine-chilling, smart, and overwhelmingly engaging psychological suspense that I recommend to ALL thriller readers.
Thank you to Thomas & Mercer/Amazon Pub UK for the complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Synopsis:
Isabel’s life seemed perfect. Successful business, beautiful house, adoring husband. And then she was dead.
For four years Jessica has never doubted that her sister Isabel’s death was an accident. But when Jessica’s young daughter seems to know long-forgotten details about her aunt’s past, Jessica can’t shake the feeling that there’s a more sinister truth behind the tragedy.
As Jessica unearths disturbing revelations about her sister, and about the people she loved and trusted most, it becomes clear Isabel’s life was less than perfect and that Jessica’s might also be at risk.
Did someone murder Isabel? Are they now after Jessica and her family? The key seems to lie in the hands of a child. Can Isabel reveal the truth from beyond the grave, or is the answer closer to home?
In Her Shadow is a gripping tale of family secrets, lies and obsession from the two million copy bestselling author Mark Edwards.
Have you read In Her Shadow, or is it on your TBR? Have you read any books by Mark Edwards, and if so, do you have any favorites? I am ready to read more from him! Happy Reading! ~ Jennifer THR

Wow! Awesome review Jen! What is the plant that is in your picture with the green leaves and white lines going through them? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before! Have a beautiful day my friend! Stay safe cause here it comes!💕💕

Thank you, Sus! I loved this book! I love that little green and red plant, and I had no idea what it is! I’m glad you asked! I looked it up, and it is “nerve plant,” which is making me laugh for so many reasons that I own a nerve plant. 😂 Mostly because I’m a nervous nelly, and I could use a little more nerve! 😂 I hope you have had a wonderful day! I was battling storms everywhere I went today, but seems like most places will be shutting down early tomorrow to prepare. Thank you for thinking of me. ♥️ xoxo

FF, maybe try The Retreat first because that one seems to be the most well-loved of his books. I definitely plan to read it! I may even have it languishing on my Kindle. 😉

This sounds like such a thrilling story, glad you loved it, Jennifer! And all the news about the hurricane is pretty scary right now (Like, “the eye of the hurricane is the size of Toronto and/or North Carolina”?!), so stay safe! ❤

Thank you, Kathy, for allllll! ♥️ I’ve been to Toronto, and NC is much, much bigger than Toronto- takes 14 hours to drive from tip to tip, and now you have me terrified that the eye of the storm is going to gobble up my whole state! I am being tongue-in-cheek here- I’m only a little terrified! 😂 I have not watched the news much tonight because it’s making me too nervous. Everything is supposed to shut down completely tomorrow, so I hope we are ready! Thank you so, so much for thinking of me, Kathy. 💗 As long as I have internet, you know where I’ll be! 💻

Haha I’ve been seeing weather channel’s virtual reality video of the hurricane water depth *everywhere* on Twitter and it got me freaking out, and *I’m* on the west coast of Canada! But if the way you run your blog is any indication, I’m sure you’re WELL prepared. 😀 Sending hugs and safe wishes! ❤

I am really a pantser (I don’t like that phrase, but I don’t know what else to use at the moment! 😂). I’m somewhat prepared with the essentials- water, charged Kindles, flashlights, cat food! We are having really gusty high winds and rain. It’s batting around my plants, but all is well. You live in one of my favorite places on earth! I have been able to visit Vancouver and the Yukon area once (along with Alaska) and really hope I get to make the trip again. You are surrounded by beauty! Thank you for thinking of me, Kathy! 💗 xo

I really enjoy Mark’s books – Because She Loves Me is still my firm favourite. I met him last year also, but I haven’t got round to reading his last couple – I must sort that out! x
