Shelfie by Shelfie is a fun book tag created by Beth at Bibliobeth. The idea behind the tag is to share a picture of any shelf of books you would like and answer ten questions about those particular books. Check out Beth’s recent Shelfie by Shelfie!
Sorry for the background on this photo, but with a hurricane looming literally at my front door, I was trying to maximize the natural light yesterday! I did a past TBR cart Shelfie, and this is an updated one. The top shelf is includes the physical books I’m currently reading, as well as ones I’ll be reading soon. I have some current reads on my Kindle, too. I actually have a few too many going, but that’s how I roll! 😂
Some of the bookish goodies on the back! Bookmarks, bookish stationery, book sleeves, and notebooks!
Let’s just focus on the top shelf this week!
And here are the questions!:
1.) Is there any reason for this shelf being organised the way it is or is it purely random?
This is my physical copy to-be-read cart. I have them in order of “due date” for the most part.
2.) Tell us a story about one of the books on this shelf that is special to you i.e., how you got it/ a memory associated with it etc.
All of the books on the top shelf are special to me because they were offered to me by publishers or publicists, except for the Book of the Month copy of The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock. For that one, I generously received the electronic ARC from Harper, and I bought the physical copy from BOTM. Inside I have a lovely mermaid bookmark I bought recently from Etsy. More on that in a bit. 😊
3.) Which book from this shelf would you ditch if you were forced to and why?
None of them can leave this time! This is my ARC dream shelf!
4.) Which book from this shelf would you save in an emergency and why?
As Nina at The Cozy Pages told me when I last showed my TBR cart, I can easily whisk this down the street if I needed to because it has wheels! So that’s what I’ll do! I could carry it in a pinch. It’s not heavy!
5.) Which book has been on this shelf for the longest time?
I received The Dream Daughter and An Anonymous Girl back in June, so I’ve had them the longest.
6.) Which book is the newest addition to this shelf?
The two newest additions are The Kennedy Debutante (thanks to Berkley, I’ll be on a blog tour soon!) and Across the Great Lake (thank you Caitlin!).
7.) Which book from this shelf are you most excited to read (or re-read if this is a favourites shelf)?
Every single one! Like I said above, this is a dream TBR. I pinch myself when I see all these books.
8.) If there is an object on this shelf apart from books, tell us the story behind it.
I have some fun goodies on this cart! I have book sleeves from Etsy (the business has since closed), bookmarks from Book Tickets by AM and CM Bookmarks . I love both these companies and highly recommend them! I also have bookish stationery from CM Bookmarks that I love to send to book friends! Last, I have some books for quotes and lists of books that I have never used. 😂 Maybe someday!
9.) What does this shelf tell us about you as a reader?
I hope it reflects that I’m grateful as a reader. Humbled and grateful.
10.) Choose other bloggers to tag or choose a free question you make up yourself.
Is anyone else using a TBR cart these days? I’d love to see yours!
I won’t tag anyone, but Shelfie by Shelfie is so much fun to do, and Beth is one of the most supportive bloggers around, so please check out her page Bibliobeth.
Happy Sunday, everyone, and happy reading! Jennifer THR
Love the idea of a TBR cart! 🙂 Love that you can wheel it too. Ha!

Stay safe! We are having heavy wind and rain right now but so far no other issues. On the positive side….everything is closed…so I can read all day long without feeling guilty…;)

Absolutely! Lots of reading time here, too! Stay safe and dry and enjoy a lovely reading day! (I love to read on a rainy day! And no one can mow – hooray!)

Good morning! I love sneaking peaks at your shelves!! Have a beautiful and safe day Jen! Is this stupid storm ever going to leave NC?? Praying for you all!💗💕💗

Thanks, Sus! I am starting to think it’s going to rain forever?! The people even closer to the coast really need it to stop! Thanks for thinking of us! At least I get a rainy day to read, right?! Still very rainy and gusty. ♥️ Happy Sunday!

At least it’s moving at 8 mph now and not 2……we might get some rain from it later in the week! Ugghhh!!💕 How is your dad holding up?

It’s still coming down. A friend checked on his house, and all seems to be ok. He wants to head home tomorrow, but we’ll have to see! I hope you don’t end up with too much rain from this! ♥️

Thanks, Jee! This is a Michael’s cart, but I’ve also bought the Target version. I love the colors of the Michael’s ones though! Yes, don’t look at these titles! 👀 We have the remnants of the hurricane coming through- lots of wind and rain, but we are safe and sound. ♥️ xoxo

Phew good to know that you guys are safe! I like the color you chose! I was eyeing on the white one from target but looks like they’re all sold out! Maybe Costco or Michael’s then 😁

A woman after my own heart! If I was still reading print books, I’d run out looking for this cart. I LOVE it💜💜💜💜 Your organization skills are legion.
Hey…just how many shelves do you have?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thank you, Jonetta! Only with my books am I organized! ♥️ Oh, gosh, I have a bunch. 8 or 9 of the tall shelves and 4 or 5 of a skinnier version, along with a couple carts. I wish I was smart like you and doing ebooks and audio only, but I still love holding a regular book for some reads! 💗

I’m looking at that exact same book cart on Wayfair, but I can’t decide if I want black or pink 🤔

Oh, I love Wayfair, Krystin! I have a black one, but I haven’t put it together yet (I couldn’t decide on color either). I will say that this pink is very neutral. I can’t wait to see yours!

It’s going down in my family room that I was talking about re-doing. I just ordered all my bookcases and stuff. Now it’s just a matter of painting and getting it all together. I think the book cart is the final piece for me down there.

Omg thanky you! It’s something I really love. But there are so many things I probaly should have done with my life that I didn’t know to pursue back when it was still a more viable option. C’est la vie. I like decorating my little house lol.

Only you could lovingly arrange a shelfie photoshoot with the mother of all hurricanes on your doorstep, Jennifer. If you were a stick of rock you would without doubt have ‘book buff’ embedded throughout your length! 🤣 I love your little TBR trolley and now have an image in my mind of you wheeling it away from your house at breakneck speed with an angry storm snapping at your (tar?) heels! You’re a star! ⭐ 😹💙

So many good plays on words, Paula! I love it and thank you! You may know the story already, but supposedly tar was put in a local river to slow down the British, and when anyone forded the river, he or she emerged with tar on their heels! There are other versions, too.
I would be slipping and sliding today, but I think I could still make a run for it! 😂 Thanks for checking out my Shelfie, and I hope packing is going well. ♥️

I didn’t know that, but it was a very good idea. We’ve been a flippin’ nuisance all over the world at one time or another!
The packing has been done, bar one or two last minute items (my current book etc.). Hope the water is still keeping out of your home, Jennifer. 🐃💙

We have not been innocent across the world either!
Yes, we are a smidge elevated compared to our next door neighbor, and so they get our run-off, and hopefully the one next to them gets their run-off as well. So far, so good.
I should have known you’d have the packing squared away. Thank you for the Carolina Blue heart and ram! ♥️ Did you know that was the mascot of my university? 🐑

Oh, I thought it was a water buffalo (which seemed appropriate under the circumstances), but I am rather short-sighted these days. I send you the blue heart only because I know it’s your favourite colour, so that’s merely a happy coincidence. At risk of becoming repetitive, here are some different emojis: 🐸🐾🐧

I think you are right- that it’s a water buffalo! The tail is different than a ram. But, no matter, it was absolutely appropriate, and I love all these emojis and your thoughtfulness. 🦋

We must be kindred spirits because I have THREE of these carts. Well, I have five of them, but three of them are for physical books I most want to read. However, they are entirely my own collection, so there isn’t as much movement there as I’d like (so many galleys!). And mine are more of an off-white/natural/putty color. 😉
Where are you in NC? We love to vacation in Emerald Isle when we can. It’s been a few years. Interestingly, what first drew me there was Nicholas Sparks books. I wanted to see New Bern in person, he did such a wonderful job of depicting the area that I had to see it for myself. I hope you are safe and well!

Myndi, I have some extras of these carts, too! I am using them for various things. Only two are pink. 😂 I’m a little ways inland from the coast, but I lived in Atlantic Beach for a few years as a child, and it’s on the same island as Emerald Isle. I love that area! Nicholas Sparks does pay great homage, including the Outer Banks, too (thinking of Rodanthe and so many others). We are having a lot of flooding here -this rain just will not stop, but I’m not in a low lying area, so we are safe and well. Thank you so much for the good thoughts! ♥️

A book cart! Perfect for wheeling around from room to room in case you suddenly need a new book! 😉 I definitely think I need one of these… or two… or three…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, yes, you do, FF! Imagine how much easier life would be if you could wheel books around?! If you get it too heavy, it will scratch the hardwood floors. Not that I would know or anything! 😬

Hahaha. I love that you’ve taken my advice to heart! I’m still loving this trolley. I’d like to create a little book nook in my new room…. I’ll be investigating trolley potentials i think…. ☺️

I love that you call them trolleys- that’s way better than “cart!” And I was so hoping you’d somehow see this post, Nina. I almost linked you, but I know you’ve been super busy, so it’s just kismet that you saw yourself being talked about. ♥️ I hope you’ll take pics of your new book nook once you have it ready?!

It is! Tonight is the first night I’ve been able to get around to a few blogs and I was determined to get the flower fix in before the cool weather! Lol
Once I get the nook sorted, I’ll post. I’ll make sure to tag you too!

Yay, I wouldn’t miss the book nook for the world! I’m so happy you were able to come by for a flower fix. We are actually having a hurricane right now, and we’ve had wind and rain for days, so I’m not sure how my poor flowers will fare. I brought a couple of my favorites into the garage, but most of them are outside being pelted. We’ll have to see! Thank you again for stopping by, Nina. ♥️

Oh no. Sorry you are affected by the hurricane. All the best to you (and the flowers). I hope there is no major damage!

Thanks, Nina! We are not in a low lying area, so we are fortunate as it continues to rain. We are safe and sound, and that’s a huge blessing with how devastating the storm has been and continues to be. ♥️

How long do you think until I get one of those nifty carts? No rain here can you send it my way please! It is still so darn hot! Although we don’t really get fall until 1 November!
Glad you are all safe and snug!

Oh my goodness, we have to get you a cart, stat! I like the ones from Michaels better because they are easier to put together and all the colors- even rose gold! But the Target ones are super sturdy and would probably hold up longer. I wish I could send you some rain. Downed trees over roads and power lines and washed out roads, too, it’s quite a mess here now. Way too much rain! I’m grateful to be up high! ♥️

Rose gold? I’m going to need to look into that!
Mother nature is crazy! Even Here with the drought when it rains we have so many flood areas because of where there have been fires, I don’t live in a flood area though thankfully!
And it is cooling down it is only supposed to be 85° on Thursday! I am so ready for fall!🧡🧡

Thanks, Beth! ♥️ We have been completely closed down here since Thursday with wind and rain, but at least in my area, where we are on higher ground, we are starting to see some improvement, and we have been safe and sound. So many other parts of my state are completely underwater and so much devastation. Thank you for asking. 💕 I am glad you enjoyed the Shelfie! It was a nice distraction! I always love doing them! I never had a chance to ask you if you had a nice holiday in Brighton?
