Welcome to my stop on the Reinventing Jenna Rose blog tour sponsored by Suzy Approved Book Tours! Thank you to Suzy for the invitation!
About the Book:
Reinventing Jenna Rose propels the reader on a fast-paced journey through the life of a young woman who’s determined to realize her self-worth and overcome a childhood broken by multiple traumas. Left alone after her parent’s divorce, Jenna uncovers evidence of a grandmother living in New York City. Without telling a soul she decides to board a plane and travel across country, landing on the Manhattan doorstep of her affluent maternal grandmother. A street-smart New York neighbor girl, a quirky therapist, a white German Shepherd and a story-telling grandmother, join forces to help Jenna overcome the hardships of her past and the shattering family secrets that soon come to light. This sad, funny, quirky novel is infused with humor and literary references while relating a multi-generational family saga and legal thriller in the voice of a courageous young woman.
Jenna Rose is struggling with her self-image as a result of being the “muse” for her father’s “art” as a photographer. Her parents have now divorced, and her mother is never around.
One day, while alone at home, she goes digging in her mother’s closet and learns she has a grandmother she knew nothing about, but that’s only one of many family secrets ahead of Jenna.
She travels to New York City and goes straight to her grandmother’s Upper West Side apartment. Katherine, her grandmother, also had a tough upbringing and shares it with Jenna.
There’s hope and healing here. Through her grandmother and other supports, Jenna. comes-of-age and travels through the trauma she’s experienced while also letting it go.
Jenna’s story is sad and dark, but also hopeful with touches of humor. It’s also a story of inter-generational trauma in families. It was impressive watching Jenna become empowered and take control of her life.
Overall, Reinventing Jenna Rose is an engaging and insightful story of family and healing from trauma.

About the Author:
I am a retired Registered Nurse who raised three children before returning to college in my late fifties to pursue a life-long dream of becoming a writer. I earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with a concentration in writing and literature from Sarah Lawrence College before earning an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University at the age of 66. My short stories can be found in the online literary journals: ReviewAmericana.com and BeneaththeRainbow.com.
I am currently working on a collection of short stories about writers and a novel called, “The Vatican Daughter.” I was delighted to discuss my incarnation as a writer and the joys and angst of attending college in my later years in a speech at the Rotary Club in Rye, New York. I live in New York with my husband, two catered to dogs, a diva cat and four lovable stray cats who wandered into my life. “Reinventing Jenna Rose” is my first novel.
