About the Book:

The secrets lurking in a rundown roadside motel ensnare a young woman, just as they did her aunt thirty-five years before, in this new atmospheric suspense novel from the national bestselling and award-winning author of The Broken Girls.

Upstate NY, 1982. Every small town like Fell, New York, has a place like the Sun Down Motel. Some customers are from out of town, passing through on their way to someplace better. Some are locals, trying to hide their secrets. Viv Delaney works as the night clerk to pay for her move to New York City. But something isn’t right at the Sun Down, and before long she’s determined to uncover all of the secrets hidden…

My Thoughts:

In the 1980s, Viv is a night attendant at the Sun Down Motel. Soon after she starts working thing, she notices things are “off.” She decides to research the history of the hotel to hopefully find a cause. She later disappears never to be seen again.

Over thirty years later, Carly arrives in the same town, and she wants to know what happened to her aunt Viv. It’s her lucky day because the Sun Down Motel needs another night attendant. She starts to experience many of the same things her aunt did.

Told from both Carly and Viv’s perspectives, I loved hearing from both women. I enjoyed the writing, and most of all, I loved how Simone St. James can create a creepy ghost story that’s still believable. It had great tension and a solid mystery, too. No more details because I don’t want to risk any spoilers! Reading it is an experience!

Overall, another winner from my favorite author for ghost stories!

I received a complimentary copy.
